Hi! I’m Jamie - baker, maker and lead dishwasher at small batch. I’m so happy you’re here!
Small batch launched in the beginning of the COVID quarantine quite unexpectedly because a dear friend taught me via Marco Polo chats how to make sourdough bread (thank you, Dawn)! As a proud beginner baker, I posted a bread pic on Instagram, and another dear friend (hey, Ann!) made the comment that changed everything - “I would buy that!” Still, none of this would have happened without the consistent moral support of my children and my dear friend, Joanna, who has spent so many days of her life talking through every detail of this business, helping with popups, and being by my side through family trauma that has changed my life.
Serving others is my happy place. The post-quarantine RVA world may no longer “need” homemade food delivered, but it absolutely needs more community building and authentic connections. This space allows us an opportunity to do just that while eating wholesome, delicious goodies.
Small batch closed two years ago when I returned to full-time work to be the sole provider for my family and a single parent. Missing small batch and our community never stopped, but directing communications and events illuminated exactly what I needed to see. Just as there has been a space for small batch, there is a space for my professional expertise in the communications and events space. I’m developing a firm to serve our Richmond community and beyond with an official launch this Fall. Where small batch was a happy accident, Jamcracker Communications is 100% intentional. Let’s celebrate this season of change with sourdough bread and alllll the goodies this summer. Thank you for your support!
